About the maker

Maru Meleniou’s (b. 1976 in Athens , Greece) background is rooted in art & design, having read graphic design in Athens, and worked in creative labs and animation studios.

Her transition to ceramics came in a time when graphic design had started to become digitized. While searching for a more tactile expression and in an effort to actually touch her two-dimensional images and ideas ideas, she went on to transfer them in the three dimensional via ceramic art.

Meleniou has been the recipient of the A’ Design Award (bronze) in 2022 and is included in the Homo Faber project of the Michaelangelo Foundation.
